cool yule

It's hard to believe it's time for the forth annual Christmas mix. When I'd first started compiling them, I'd see the occasional holiday song collection here and there. Now, bloggers start posting seasonal tunes in late November right up to December 25th. I prefer to save it for one collection of the best I've come across over the last twelve months - once this is posted, work starts on next year's mix. A good compilation is evocative of the holiday, each song should resonate experiences of past seasons, I believe this one does just that - enjoy!
It's been quite a year, one I won't soon forget. Last May, Paul from Setting The Woods On Fire sent me an invite to join him at the collaborative music blog, Star Maker Machine. In a short amount of time, it took off faster than any of us had expected. In the process, a real sense of community developed, new friendships and relationships were formed, a classic example of the total being greater than the sum of its parts. Thanks go out to all for their time and efforts, it's been fun being part of the crew. Shout outs go to Paul, BoyHowdy and Brendon, who put time and energy into administration and keeping the wolves at bay, and the rest of the writers: Anne, Autopsy IV, BWR, Darius, Divinyl, LD, Matt, Nelson, Payton, Ramone666, Robbie, Scott and Susan.
Most of all, thanks to all of you that helped make this year memorable - to paraphrase Hunter S. Thompson, our tribe is strong like a river. For a myriad of reasons, it's been a tough year for many all around this World Wide Web of ours - whatever holiday you may celebrate, here's hoping this one's the best ever!
In keeping with the good cheer of the season, I've restored the sound files to Posts of Christmas Past:
More fun awaits in 2009, looking forward to seeing all of you there!
