creepy crawly cretins

We've all had our own Eddie Haskell's in our lives; annoying bores that make your skin crawl, those whose actions contradict the self-held belief of their genius. You see them in every level of life, most especially in our beloved Internet - its built-in anonymity helps make it a breeding ground for some of the most obnoxious clods going. Creeps can be fun to watch from a distance, usually not when they're a slimy handshake away. Songs about the crude and rude, stalkers and self-loathers - cretins of every size, shape and stripe.

"Every obnoxious act is a cry for help." - Zig Ziglar

"Yeah, I'm obnoxious, yeah, I cut people off, yeah, I'm rude. You know why? Because you're busy." - Bill O'Reilly

"A bore is a fellow who opens his mouth and puts his feats in it." - Henry Ford

"My favorite thing about the Internet is that you get to go into the private world of real creeps without having to smell them." - Penn Jillett

Either it's about Sting's mother cheating on his father when he was a child, or about the breakup of his first marriage. As you say, so many consider it a romantic song it's requested at weddings.

"I woke up in the middle of the night with that line in my head, sat down at the piano and had written it in half an hour. The tune itself is generic, an aggregate of hundreds of others, but the words are interesting. It sounds like a comforting love song. I didn't realise at the time how sinister it is. I think I was thinking of Big Brother, surveillance and control." — Sting

Penn is right, not having to smell them is a plus.

I only see the Showtime via people You Tubing it. My cable lineup is cheap and simple. That Police/Mancini mix is a trip, btw.

Yeah, it was the soundtrack for a video montage on The Sopranos where it was used to great effect.

Most of my theme posts are inspired by real life events. This ones roots from a tumblr post I can't find about being followed by the screen name creepy_guy.

Bill O'Reilly's the tool's tool - I have to shower after watching him in action.

how is he allowed in such a high profile position??

Two words: Rupert Murdoch.

I used to work in the pharmaceutical industry, where I met some of the worst people ever.

If big oil doesn't have their tentacles wrapped firmly around our wallets, the pharmaceutical industry surely does.

Glad to spread the joy around! My cerebral cortex is tethered to the Net. Knowing your way around torrent helps, plus using a variety of search strings. I'm of the opinion that anything you're looking for is out there, you just have to find it.
