Wind Power
Wind power is the conversion of wind energy into a useful form, such as electricity, using wind turbines. At the end of 2007, worldwide capacity of wind-powered generators was 94.1 gigawatts. Although wind currently produces about 1% of world-wide electricity use, it accounts for approximately 19% of electricity production in Denmark, 9% in Spain and Portugal, and 6% in Germany and the Republic of Ireland (2007 data). Germany today produces more wind energy than any other country. Some 15,000 wind turbines are now in operation in California. Globally, wind power generation increased more than fivefold between 2000 and 2007.

Wind energy is plentiful, renewable, widely distributed, clean, and reduces greenhouse gas emissions when it displaces fossil-fuel-derived electricity by wind energy. The intermittency of wind seldom creates problems when using wind power to supply a low proportion of total demand. Where wind is to be used for a moderate fraction of demand, additional costs for compensation of intermittency are considered to be modest.

Another strong set - thanks for that. I am going to cast my fate to the wind or as the poet once said...
You don't tug on Superman's cape
You don't spit into the wind
You don't pull the mask off the old Lone Ranger
And you don't mess around with Jim, da do da do...

Who has seen the wind?
Neither I nor you
But when the leaves hang trembling
The wind is passing thro'

Who has seen the wind?
Neither you nor I
But when the trees bow down their heads
The wind is passing by

Oh, it was anything but that. It was a Long Island-based camp right out of Meatballs, most of the kids were children of the first wave of post WW2 parents. I think the fact it was back in the Pleistocene Era was the main reason they were forcing us to sing it, then it was halfway cool - don't forget, there was a time where Eddie Cantor was considered cutting edge and risqué.

I love Robert Wyatt, he definitely can be very happy sounding. Your other selection sounds good as well. Unfortunately, hosting problems have reared its ugly head again. 15% of the bandwidth transfer I have with the mp3 files is generated by downloads here and at my other place of posting, Star Maker Machine. The other 85% is primarily used by streaming music services and people swooping in with mass downloading programs like Songbird. My current host said they were getting over 200 simultaneous server connections because of this traffic, so this is no longer going to be viable solution. I should have it sorted it out later today, my hosting costs are going to increase between 250%-500%. When you see those songs up, you'll know I've sorted it out.

Talking Heads - Listening Wind
PJ Harvey - The Wind
Bob Seger - Against the Wind (there´s a cover version by The Hold Steady)
Wind and Rain (old traditional, covered very often. Dylan stole the melody for "Percy´s Song")
Wild is the Wind (by Dimitri Tiomkin), great version by David Bowie
and, not to forget: Scorpions - Wind of Change ;-)

I considered the Talking Heads song for the main body of the post, I can stick it here once I muck my way through the hosting problems I describe above. I enjoy PJ Harvey, I'd think I might prefer The Hold Steady over Seger. Wind and Rain sounds like a winner as does the Tiomkin tune. Scorpions... hmmmm ;-)

Wikipedia: The Twa Sisters

"The Twa Sisters" is a murder ballad that recounts the tale of a girl drowned by her sister. It is first known to have appeared on a broadside in 1656 as "The Miller and the King's Daughter." At least 21 English variants exist under several names, including "Minnorie" or "Binnorie", "The Cruel Sister", "The Wind and Rain", "Two Sisters", and the "Bonnie Bows of London". The ballad was collected by Francis J. Child (Child 10) and is also listed in the Roud Folk Song Index (Roud 8).
