Communication
Pete Townshend: Communication - 5MB
Communication is the process of transferring information from a sender to a receiver with the use of a medium in which the communicated information is understood by both sender and receiver. It is a process that allows organisms to exchange information by several methods. Communication requires that all parties understand a common language that is exchanged, There are auditory means, such as speaking, singing and sometimes tone of voice, and nonverbal, physical means, such as body language, sign language, paralanguage, touch, eye contact, or the use of writing. Communication is defined as a process by which we assign and convey meaning in an attempt to create shared understanding. This process requires a vast repertoire of skills in intrapersonal and interpersonal processing, listening, observing, speaking, questioning, analyzing, and evaluating. Use of these processes is developmental and transfers to all areas of life: home, school, community, work, and beyond. It is through communication that collaboration and cooperation occur. Communication is the articulation of sending a message, through different media whether it be verbal or nonverbal, so long as a being transmits a thought provoking idea, gesture, action, etc.

Telecommunication
A Flock Of Seagulls: Telecommunication - 4MB
Telecommunication is the assisted transmission of signals over a distance for the purpose of communication. In earlier times, this may have involved the use of smoke signals, drums, semaphore, flags, or heliograph. In modern times, telecommunication typically involves the use of electronic transmitters such as the telephone/cellphone, television, radio or computer. Early inventors in the field of telecommunication include Antonio Meucci, Samuel F. B. Morse, Alexander Graham Bell, Guglielmo Marconi and John Logie Baird. Telecommunication is an important part of the world economy and the telecommunication industry's revenue has been placed at just under 3 percent of the gross world product.

Quotes about communication
"Many attempts to communicate are nullified by saying too much." - Robert Greeleaf
"If I am to speak ten minutes, I need a week for preparation; if fifteen minutes, three days; if half an hour, two days; if an hour, I am ready now." - Woodrow Wilson
"The most important thing in communication is to hear what isn't being said." - Peter F. Drucker
"The newest computer can merely compound, at speed, the oldest problem in the relations between human beings, and in the end the communicator will be confronted with the old problem, of what to say and how to say it." - Edward R. Murrow
"The colossal misunderstanding of our time is the assumption that insight will work with people who are unmotivated to change. Communication does not depend on syntax, or eloquence, or rhetoric, or articulation but on the emotional context in which the message is being heard. People can only hear you when they are moving toward you, and they are not likely to when your words are pursuing them. Even the choices words lose their power when they are used to overpower. Attitudes are the real figures of speech." - Edwin H. Friedman
"The more elaborate our means of communication, the less we communicate." - Joseph Priestley
"The art of communication is the language of leadership." - James Humes
"Give every man thy ear but few thy voice." - William Shakespeare
"The problem with communication... is the illusion that it has been accomplished." - George Bernard Shaw
"Communication is not only the essence of being human, but also a vital property of life." - John A. Piece
"Self-expression must pass into communication for its fulfillment."- Pearl Buck
"Good communication is as stimulating as black coffee and just as hard to sleep after." - Anne Morrow Lindbergh
"I quote others only in order the better to express myself." - Michel de Montaigne
